NGL Ladies Cecil Leitch

Rushden gave themselves some hope of progressing through to the Ladies Cecil Leitch quarter-finals with a brilliant 5-2 away victory at Overstone Park in their last Group D match.
Although Gill Hodgson and Sue Evans were successful for the hosts in games one and six respectively, Rushden showed their battling qualities in the other ties as Yvonne Wilcox, Hannah Talbot, Anne Bewers, Margaret Litchfield and Mirian O’Reilly grabbed wins.
With Rushden sitting third on points difference, they will now need second-placed Overstone to suffer a heavy defeat at home to leaders Oundle in their final match on July 19th.
Defending champions Oundle, who also have the same total as their two closest rivals, should be through to the last eight after Veronica Lyon and Sarah Parsell collected late points in a 4-3 away defeat to Staverton Park.
