Old Course success for young Chelsey
Northamptonshire teenager Chelsey Sharp won the biggest title of her short career as she lifted the Strathtyrum Salver with victory in the St Andrews Junior Ladies Final at the home of golf in Scotland.
The Peterborough Milton member carded a gross round of 78 on the Strathtyrum Course to qualifying for the knockout stages of the net competition, where she defeated Rosie Maguire on the second extra hole in the quarter-finals and then got the better of Zara Macdonald 4&2 in the last four.
After finishing runner-up in both the Northamptonshire Ladies and Girls Championships earlier this year, the youngster showed her determination not to miss out again as she beat 3&1 Amy Burton in the final on the Old Course.
