LPGA Symetra Tour
Wellingborough’s Meghan MacLaren came up just short in her bid to secure a card on the 2022 LPGA Tour as she finished in 19th position in the season-long Order of Merit on the feeder Symetra Tour.
With the top 10 players gaining full playing rights on the main LPGA Tour next year, MacLaren knew a top two finish in the Championship Final at LPGA International in Florida should be sufficient to climb into a qualifying spot.
The 27-year-old looked in great shape after round one as she smashed eight birdies and an eagle on the 18th to lie just a single stroke off the lead with a 64, but the birdie touch deserted her over the next two days however as she slipped back with scores of 73 and 70.
Despite rediscovering her form in a bogey-free closing six-under-par 66, it was only enough for a share of eighth place, meaning she will now have to enter the Q-Series event over consecutive weeks later this month to secure her 2022 LPGA card.
