Williams eases to debut pro win in South Africa
Peterborough Milton’s Robin Williams recorded his first victory as a professional golfer after winning a ‘Big Easy’ Tour event at State Mines Country Club in South Africa.
The 20-year-old, who turned professional last summer after a successful amateur career, carded back-to-back rounds of 67 to lead by one stroke going into the final day.
In a qualifying event for the Sunshine Tour, Williams birdied the third, sixth, seventh and ninth holes to extend his advantage to four shots at the turn, before closing it out with a one-over-par back nine.
Williams tweeted: “Really happy to get my first win as a professional under the belt. Thanks to @BigEasyTourSA for an amazing event. Looking forward to the season ahead!”
