Handicap League

Group A

Staverton Park made it three wins in three Handicap League outings in Group A with a superb 21-4 away success at point-less Northampton.

Joe Spittlehouse and Peter Trueman (one hole), Barry Harding and Phillip O’Hagan (two holes) and Martin Fallows and James Humphries (two holes) secured early away wins, but the hosts took game three by four holes to keep the match in the balance.

Nick Shakespeare and Gez Strangwood quickly ended any Northampton hopes however as they strolled to a 13-hole victory, before John Shakespeare and Neil Stevenson completed the Staverton scoring by taking the last tie by three.

Scratch League

Division 3

Priors Hall climbed to the top of the third division with a 5-1 home victory against Daventry, courtesy of points from Andrew Rhodes, Reece Kirk, Dany Reid, Danny Draper and Matt Goode.

Ladies League

Northants County displayed their ruthless streak against Northampton as they recorded their third victory in three matches with a 4-0 success at Wellingborough GC.

Anna Heaver (6&5) and Karen Lobb (4&3) were the most impressive winners, while Katie Amos and Emma Bazeley added two more points on the 17th hole.

In the other match on the day, points from Gill Hodgson and Ellen Roe weren’t enough to grab a second victory of the season for Overstone Park as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Elton Furze.

Ladies Cecil Leitch

Group B

Wellingborough A became the first team to record two away victories in Ladies Cecil Leitch Group B as they edged a tight contest at Kettering by a single point.

With all four teams in this section having won on their travels this year, Wellingborough moved a significant step closer to a quarter final place as Claire Guest, Ellen Steel and Bina Shah confirmed the team success.

Group D

Northants County inflicted Staverton Park’s first defeat of the campaign as they avenged a 4-1 away loss last month by winning 3-2 at home in Group D.

A fourth Staverton win this year looked likely early on as Jill Metcalf and Denise Aitchison took the opening two ties with holes to spare, but County responded through Sue McRae, Jo Beal and Saliann Miles.
