Home advantage made the difference in the NGL Mixed Fourball Betterball tournament as Becki Scott and Len Newell grabbed first prize on their own course at Daventry GC.

The home club members needed countback to secure the win after posting the joint-leading score of 40 points with the Brampton Heath duo of Tian Thomas and John Thomas. Wellingborough’s Carol Gibbs and Rod Gibbs were third on 39.

Fellow Wellingborough members Carl Hughes and Mark Walker, meanwhile, also narrowly missed out on victory in a County event as they lost to Rushden’s Jason Benzie and Ian Blakeley in the Foursomes KO Final at Kettering GC.
