The Shires Junior Golf Tour
Brampton Heath witnessed the biggest field for a Junior Open in Northamptonshire this decade as The Shires Junior Golf Tour held their opening Summer Series event on Sunday.
With a full field of 60 boys and girls signed up for the 18-hole and nine-hole competitions, Oliver Golby (Northants County) continued his excellent form from the Winter Series as he carded the joint-leading net round of 72 in the Gold Division.
Fynn Colley, who posted the best gross score of 76, finished runner-up on countback, with Joshua Bland (Northants County) and Shires debutante Lily Davies (Northampton) a further shot off the pace.
Giuseppe Memoli (Overstone Park) and Harry Costanzo (Wellingborough) finished tied fourth in the Silver category with a net 70 apiece.
In the Bronze Division, which was played over nine holes, Sophia Vanezi (Northampton) claimed the top prize with a magnificent net 30 as she finished one ahead of Zac Dunkley and Jake Goldsmith (Collingtree).
The Mini Tour event, which saw youngsters who do not have a handicap play off forward tees over the front nine, went to Riley Billingham with 46 strokes.
