Australian Master of the Amateurs
County golfers Ben Jones and Callum Farr both finished out of the reckoning in the Australian Master of the Amateurs at Royal Melbourne GC.
Teenager Jones couldn’t recover from a poor back nine on the second day as he posted scores of 76, 79, 72 and 71 to finish 47th, while Farr was made to pay for an opening 80 as he went on to take 55th with two rounds of 73, and a 75 on the last day.
England international Jones is in action again this week in the Australian Amateur Championship at Spring Valley and Woodlands Golf Clubs.
With just 12 English golfers competing in a field of over 315 amateurs from across the world, Farr will also be taking part alongside older brother Michael for an event previous won by 2005 US Open champion Michael Campbell.
