Overstone Park amateur Fraser Carnihan combined perfectly with Market Harborough professional Dan Ashcroft to lift the NPGA Cantrell Cup at Silverstone GC.

The duo were in good form in the morning fourball as they posted seven birdies and no bogeys in a round of 65 to sit just one shot behind pacesetters Matt Bearman (Northampton) and Wellingborough pro Simon Lilly.

With the leaders struggling for consistency in the afternoon foursomes, Carnihan and Ashcroft seized the initiative as a round of 73 earned them a single stroke victory.
