County Boys
Northamptonshire under-14s team held their nerve in the closing stages to beat Bedfordshire 3-2 in their opening pre-season friendly at Peterborough Milton GC.
The hosts looked in control at the half way point as they led in four of the five pairs matches – the highlight being a magnificent eagle from Joe Hyde, and partner Jack Peters, in the second tie.
Bedfordshire showed great determination however as they battled back to win that game and the opening match involving home captain Ed Keech and Jacob Williams.
Debutantes Joe Ingham and Mark Stockdale got Northamptonshire on the board with a convincing win, before Kai Raymond and Euan Herson, who was also making his first appearance for the County, won on the 16th hole.
It was left to Oscar Bell and Morgan Cresswell to bag the winning point for Northants as they came through on the 17th.
