European Men’s Team Championship
County amateur Ben Jones was part of the England team that narrowly missed out on the chance to win the European Men’s Team Championship for a record 12th time when they lost to hosts Sweden in the final at Llunghusen GC.
With Northants County member Jones finishing ninth in the individual strokeplay after scores of 71 and 70, England qualified for the knockout stages as the second seeds, behind Ireland.
Despite recording narrow wins against Wales and Scotland in the quarter-final and semi-finals respectively, England couldn’t find their best against the Swedes in the final as they were beaten 4½-2½.
Fellow County golfer Robin Williams was part of the England Boys team that finished in fifth place in the European Boys’ Team Championship at Chantilly GC in France.
After losing to Ireland in the Quarter-Finals, England defeated Italy 3½-1½ before rounding things off by beating Spain by the same scoreline.
