Faldo Series Grand Final
Top county golfer Charlie Salter’s hopes of winning the 24th Faldo Series Grand Final were ended by injury as a long-term foot complaint forced his withdrawal from the event at the magnificent Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire.
After being delayed for a year due to coronavirus, the Brampton Heath golfer was keen to attempt to claim a prestigious title, whose previous winners included Nick Dougherty, who did a presentation at the pre-event meal.
Despite battling hard over the front nine on day one, Salter struggled over the inward stretch as he carded an eight-over-par 80 in the Boys Under-21s category, before pulling out ahead of the final two rounds.
