Hollingsworth Trophy
Kingsthorpe progressed through to the semi-finals after topping Group D with a brilliant 4-1 victory at Northampton.
Two comfortable away wins in games one and three and a big defeat in the last tie, meant Kingsthorpe needed to gain something from either of the two closest matches on the course.
The 13-time champions didn’t disappoint as Elijah Woodward and Leigh Woodward triumphed down the last, before Mike Burnhope and Mark Lineham added another point on the 17th hole.
Reigning champions Wellingborough could still have pipped Kingsthorpe to first place but they went down 4-1 away to Whittlebury Park.
In Group C, Northants County A maintained their mathematical chances of qualifying for the last four after edging a thrilling home contest with Peterborough Milton.
Despite two heavy defeats, County kept their nerve as Nathan Dennis and Ben Smith (one hole) and Lee Ault and Cameron Sinclair (one hole) levelled the match score, before Jonathan Wilton and Roger Green secured the win by taking the closing hole.
Unbeaten leaders Kettering will be overtaken if they suffer a 4-1 defeat at Milton this weekend or County record a whitewash victory at Overstone the following week.
