Ladies European Tour
Top Northamptonshire pro Charley Hull came agonisingly close to her second victory of the season as she lost in a play-off at the Aramco Team Series event on the Ladies European Tour in Jeddah.
Hull, who triumphed on the LPGA Tour a few weeks ago, was beaten on the second extra hole by 16-year-old Chiara Noja after the pair finished tied for the lead with a three round total of 13-under-par 203.
Despite enjoying a one stroke advantage going into the final round, the 26-year-old looked out of contention after her opening 12 holes as she struggled to sink the birdies whilst several challengers found their touch.
With Noja shooting a seven-under-par 65 to set the clubhouse mark, Hull responded with four birdies in the last six holes to join the German teenager at the top of the standings.
Although the Kettering-born golfer, who is competing in the CME Group Tour Championship on the LPGA in Florida this week, birdied the opening play-off hole she was unable to match Noja’s birdie on the second extra hole.
