Midland Open Amateur Championship

Max Faulkner (Brampton Heath) finished as the highest-placed Northamptonshire golfer in the Midland Open Amateur Championship as he grabbed a share of fifth place at Sandwell Park GC.

Despite starting with an opening round of 76, the teenager carded scores of 70 and 73, before finishing in style with an excellent round of 68 – the joint-best round of the tournament.

Corey Neville (Northants County) was 14th, club-mate Harry Oddy finished 43rd, while Ben Lavender (Northampton) missed the two-round cut.
