Midlands Under-18 Boys
Northamptonshire Under-18 Boys were made to pay for fielding an under-strength side in their home match with Leicestershire as they lost 8½-6½ at Priors Hall GC.
Despite the late withdrawals of Robin Williams, who has been called up to represent Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup, and Dan Blackmore, the hosts made a positive start as Jacob Williams and Kai Raymond secured the first point 4&2.
Northamptonshire took the next game by the same scoreline, while Sam Ludlow and Michael Wood made it 3-0, before the visitors replied with a victory in game four, and walkover wins in the last pairs tie and two singles matches.
Although Ludlow (8&6) and Joe Witty (3&2) enjoyed solid home victories, Northants could only pick up one and a half points from the other six ties as the county ended their campaign with one win from four outings in the Midlands League.
