More than one Captain’s Price for Centenary
Rushden Golf Club Captain Rob Price has enlisted the help of a number of Past Captains and prominent Club Members to help organise a series of special monthly events to celebrate the Club’s Centenary in 2019.
Club President Gordon Rising, Multiple Club Champions Ian Dickerson and Teresa Pack, Club Chairman Steve York, and PGA Professional Adrian Clifford are amongst those members taking on a significant role in the coming months.
After extending their course from 10 to 18 holes six years ago, and also completing renovation work inside their clubhouse bar and lounge over the winter, Rushden are now looking forward to another big year with optimism.
Price, who was also Club Captain in 2010, admitted: “This is far too important a year for just one person to decide what happens in Rushden’s Centenary, we felt it had to be a collective celebration.
“We therefore decided to split the year up by inviting various Club members from all the different sections to act as a Captain’s Organiser for a single month. They had the responsibility of looking after the events in their particular month.
“In January, Julie Beavan and Kevin Barclay organised a Burns Supper, which included haggis and bag pipes, while the Gin Night followed last month.
“The March Centenary event sees the Irish band Sineads Pick entertain the members on Saturday, March 16th – the day before the Feast of Saint Patrick.
“Once we get into the season, the main events will also include golf and particularly the fortnight in mid-July when we will host a series of Open competitions, the Club Championships and the Celebration Cup. It promises to be a fantastic year.”
