NGL County Junior Championships
Joseph Hyde (Kettering) and Baylie Pyke (Overstone) were crowned 2019 County Boys and Girls Champions respectively after earning contrasting victories in the 36-hole tournament at Cold Ashby GC.
Hyde came from three strokes off the pace at the half way stage to grab the title by four, while Pyke led from start to finish in the girls competition to earn a six shot win.
Ben Lavender (Northampton) was the early boys leader, but Hyde surged clear as he improved his opening 75 by six strokes, with the help of six birdies in the afternoon.
Jacob Williams (Peterborough Milton) came through in the second round to bag the runners-up spot thanks to a breathtaking back nine, which included an eagle two on the 10th hole and five birdies.
Ben Atherton led the net scoring with rounds of 67 and 59 and was also part of the Kettering B side, alongside James Attwood and Sam Underwood, that won the Scottish Cup and Shoe & Leather Cup.
In the Girls County Championship, Pyke carded three birdies in the last eight holes in an opening 78, before keeping her nerve in a second round 80 to finish clear of Jade Potter (Northampton) and defending champion Ashleigh Critchley (Kettering).
Potter also had to be content with the runners-up position in the girls net competition as Eloise Ley (Northants County) posted two brilliant score of 65 and 66 to finish three ahead of the field.
