NGL Hollingsworth Trophy – Group A

Northants County came agonisingly close to claiming a victory in the first outing of the season as they lost a tight away contest with Silverstone by the scoreline 3-2.
With four of the five ties going the distance, County grabbed a couple of wins from Rhys Taylor and Paul Harris in game two and Andy Castell and Tim Faulkner in the final match, but Silverstone held their nerve in the others to seal a first win of 2019.
Priors Hall, who beat Silverstone last time out, couldn’t make it two victories out of two as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Daventry.
The hosts always looked in command once Samuel Overton and Jason Smith (7&5) and Jack Cooper and Daniel Haynes (7&6) strolled in with big wins under their belts.
Further home points came from Chris Balic and James Berry (3&1) and Chris Poolton and Chris Eveleigh (4&2) before Priors prevented the whitewash when Scott Gordon and William Adams triumphed down the last.
