Defending champions Collingtree Park made a dreadful start to their 2019 campaign as they were hammered 7-1 by Overstone Park at Cold Ashby GC.
James Gardner, Cameron Reeves, Tom Nickleson, Phil Gardner, Andrew Watson, David Smith and Billy Beard bagged the points for Overstone, with Joe Johnson securing the only point for Collingtree.
It was a completely different story for last year’s beaten finalists Northampton as they avoided defeat in all eight ties in a 7-1 thumping of Wellingborough.
Scott Wood, Sam Gilkes, Gareth Parker, Graham Truby, James Aris and Ben Lavender grabbed wins for the Harlestone club, while Gary Hardy and Bradley Green picked up halves.
