Northants County came up just short in their audacious bid to qualify for the quarter finals as they defeated Cold Ashby 6-1 at home, but missed out on points difference.
With the hosts needing a whitewash victory to progress, Mary Wetherly, Diana Murkin, Vivienne McManus, Sue McRae, Andrea Alston and Geeta Patel were successful in the first six games.
County’s hopes of an incredible victory were dashed in the final match however as Dawn Mallard-Parker’s resilience was ended on the closing hole.

Group B
Kettering kept their chances of progressing into the quarter-finals alive as they inflicted Whittlebury Park’s first defeat of the season with a 5-2 home success in Group B.
The home points came in contrasting style as harrow wins for Sally Bingham and Amanda Campbell in games one and two, were matched by big victories from Sarah Pattison, Kathy Morrison and Jean Galbraith.

Group C
Elton Furze joined leaders Wellingborough in the last eight after beating the Group C leaders 6-1 at home.
With little to choose between the two sides early on, Elton Furze took control thanks to four convincing wins in the final four ties as they finished above Peterborough Milton in the standings.
