Priors Hall open for tender
An opportunity to manage one of the best sets of 18 holes in Northamptonshire has emerged after Corby Borough Council started the tender process for Priors Hall golf course.
Opened in 1967 by two-time major winner Tony Jacklin, the pay-and-play venue has been run solely by the council over the last 12 months as they assessed what to do with the Fred Hawtree-designed layout.
After working closely with Priors Hall Golf Club, who are currently putting together a series of measures to attract more members, they have now opened up the bidding for any franchise across Europe to take over in June 2019.
Priors Hall GC Treasurer Jack Marr said: “It’s been a challenging few months for the Club, but the progress made during this time is remarkable.
“The council have done a fantastic job with the course – it has always been a great layout, but it’s now in as good a condition as it has been for many years, which is great credit to everyone involved.
“The successful applicant is likely to start in June, when we expect a level of investment that will improve our course even further.
“We have a meeting with Corby Borough Council this week, when we will receive a further update on how the process will work. It’s an exciting time for Priors Hall Golf Club and Northamptonshire golf as a whole.”
